Anta da Cerqueira

Portugal - Braga

Set in the rural landscape near Vila Verde, Anta da Cerqueira is a well-preserved megalithic dolmen thought to date back more than 4,000 years. This ancient burial chamber, made from massive granite slabs, is one of the best examples of prehistoric architecture in northern Portugal.

Visitors can access the site for free, and it’s often quiet, making it ideal for peaceful exploration or photography. Interpretive signage provides insight into the dolmen’s construction and significance in Neolithic rituals.

If you’re travelling through Braga district and are interested in archaeology, history, or off-the-beaten-path sites, Anta da Cerqueira is a rewarding and completely free experience.
