Bicaz Gorge, Romania

The Bicaz Gorge is an excellent day trip by car.  It can be slightly dangerous so caution is advised.  It is also best to go in the the summer when the weather is good. The road is the DN12C and winds its way into the Eastern Carpathian Mountains.  The views are quite stunning and there are a number of areas where it is safe to stop and park and take a look around.  Be aware for travellers on foot, there are no pavements and a few low hanging rocks.  Throughout the root there are also shops where you can buy souvenirs and in the summer months places to eat as well.  The end of the route takes you to the beautiful  Red Lake – also worth a visit.
