Verdon Gorge - Gorges du Verdon

The Verdon Gorge is a famous natural reserve in the Provence region of France.  There is a stunning lake – Lac de Sainte-Croix – where there are many activities available.  These are paying (such as renting pendalos to go into the gorge) but you can also take your own equipment.  In the gorge we also saw climbers in the caves there.  There is a vast picnic area by the side of the lake with facilities such as picnic tables and toilets.  Throughout the area there are also plenty of spots to take fabulous pictures of the stunning scenery.

For something even more exciting there is the trip around the gorge.  Although this can be hiked if you have the time and the stamina, it also makes an amazing road trip.  The Gorge is very high and there are some interesting sections of the road!  There are also places to stop to take pictures along the route and the occasional restaurant if needed.  You will also see interesting wildlife in the area.

Ideal for:

  • solo travellers
  • couples
  • families
  • picnics
  • hiking
  • road trips
  • water sports
