Rigsby Wood

November, 2018

Rigsby Wood is a small nature reserve run by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust.  Situated close to the market town of Alford the wood is an ideal place for a quick walk or picnic if you enjoy the peace and quiet.  There is limited parking by the road – be aware that the verges are protected so park carefully!  The wood is a short stroll downwards from the road.  There are no facilities here so bear that in mind when you visit but if you like the peace and tranquility then this is a great place for an outing.  The woods are full of birds and even on a windy day you are protected from the worst of it, especially if you carry on right to the eastern edge of the wood.  Species include treecreeper and tawny owl, bluebells and wood anemones.

Ideal for:

  • solo travellers
  • coupl
  • picnics
  • short walks
